We see flowers at least once a day everyday in our lives but trying to photograph them it can cause lots of heartache. In the photo above you can see that they are not in focus, that is because of the wind. They are to bright well that is because it was a bright day. And one of the last issues with photographing flowers is that tiny little bugs eat the pedals leaving nasty little wholes in the petals. Another issue you may come across while trying to find the perfect flower is the background. In the photo above you can see that the background is blurred however the color of the street and the vehicle in the top left is not helping my flower. Now after all that pain and struggle of finding the right flower you will create a beautiful photo like the one above. Advice that I can pass on is to look at all the angles of the flower, bring something to block the sun and have fun.

For many people Photographing the moon and other stuff in the sky seems like an imposable thing to capture just right. In the image above you can see the craters and textures however it is not a crisp photograph. It was hard because I had to zoom in all the way and it was hand held which makes it extremely difficult to capture right. In the image above shows the moon in the middle of the night. Capturing the moon at this time of the night is even harder to do. Especially since I was zoomed in all the way and once again I was hand holding the camera. Now in this final image I was able to capture a meteor that was flying through the dark sky. But because I had to rush in my house to grab my camera and hurry up to take the shot before it burned out or got to far away I had no time for a tri pod. So the most important thing you will learn from this blog is that when photographing at night always use a tri pod.
When ever someone mentions the words Street photography people always automatically think of grungy in your face portraits or some graffiti on the wall. However as mentioned in my other blogs there are no rules or set guide lines on what or how you photograph a certain type of photos. In my opinion street photography is anything that catches your eye for example in the image above is a bicycle covered with a bunch of random objects but in my eyes it stood out and spoke to me with its beautiful colors going against the dirty street. Or it is something simple as a crate of flowers that a vender is trying to sell. I always get pulled in when i run into a random flower vender standing in the middle of the sidewalk. Once again it is not a close up of a homeless man with the clarity jacked up all the way but instead some flowers that made me smile. And sometimes when walking down some streets you see something in a shop window that is so unique that is forces you to photograph it. In this photograph I took I saw the soft pink colors of this wedding dress then I positioned my self to capture the reflection of what many might call a normal building. And to me this is what street photography is, from the soft flowers to crazy wedding dress or some graffiti on the wall. My main point of this blog is to get you to just go out and photograph what makes you happy and not worry about the so called rules of photography.
When visiting places that are always crowded such as Disney land you have to watch out so you do not get a random head in your photo. You have to be patient and keep your eyes open for the right shot. In the photo above I had to wait around twenty minutes before the shot was clear. Yes that is a long time to wait but i adore this photograph. One of the biggest events that goes on in Disney land is the Parade. When waiting for the parade to start you get hounded by the security to stay behind the ropes so all your photos are going to be at an angle or a side shot. This means that you must wait for the right moment or also known as the decisive moment. Though I do like this photo above I felt rushed so I ended up cutting off her feet and part of the dress and that is never a good thing. With all that said fear not because with all the hustle and craziness that comes with Disney land if you are patient you will get a photograph that makes it all worth it. This photo was taken while the parade was moving and a Tinker Bell was doing many poses but I was able to capture her in a pose at the right time.
A lot of people love to photograph their pets, and I am one of those. I admit that I have tons of photos of my cats. The trouble is I want to show my cats to other people but they do not always cooperate with me while holding a camera. Sometimes your pet will be behaving badly like my cat is in the photo above and I only want to show my cats as angels. Another problem is when they try to hide. Behind the chair, under the desk or behind the window blinds. This is when you start calling out the cats name and making other random noises like a crazy person trying to get your cat to come out and pose for you. After all the running around and all the craziness of trying to photograph your cat you finally get a shot that makes you forget about the hassle before. You have to be on guard with camera ready at all times just to get the one shot that you will post all over the internet as if your cat is a your kid. So for those that continue to fight the fight be prepared.
There are many types of portrait photography with many styles and many different ways to edit the photographs. With all that said there are no right or wrong ways to create a portrait it just depends on your style or on what the client wants. In the first image i have my model doing a standard side view. This type of posing is what you commonly see as the business style portraiture. In the photo above shows another way to pose your model. With the background all white it makes the image all about the model. It is important to have your model pose in away that complements his or her body. You would not want to have your model slouch or standing straight up with hands and arms directly by the body, this would make the model look like a robot. In my final image I choose to show more of a unconventional way to photograph a portrait. Because I choose to have the model rest his hands against his face it makes it look like he has been crying or warn out. I choose to make this image a black and white image to add to the mystery of my model. I then decided to put the model to the far right with a large chunk of black empty space behind him. I feel that by doing this it makes me think of what has he been through or what is making him feel so sad or hurt. So no matter how you choose to photograph as long as you or the client is happy it is all that maters so have fun and get creative.
Just outside of Santa Cruz California is a small town alone the coast called Davenport. You not find a Wall-Mart or giant malls. No, in this beautiful town has the ocean on one side and green hills on the other side. And not to far from the the town of Davenport is a privately owned land with redwood trees, green grass and wild life. There are no police sirens or giant parking lots. Just mother nature and beautiful scenery. When our lives get busy we do not think normally, we tense up and get stressed out. When we get stuck in the rat race of life we tend to forget to take time out to re-charge and get away from all the noise. That is why for a quick get away with your friends, family or just by yourself I Recommend to take a day trip to beautiful Davenport and and enjoy the peace, quite, and the beautiful scenery.
Once chopped I decided to use my older light blue cutting board because i feel it does not compete with the colors of the peppers and the cuts in it add a home like feeling. After taking the photo on the left I stared at it for at least 15 minutes and two things happened, first thing was that I started to eat more of my props and I decided that the knife took away the natural look. Now that the knife is out, the image looks better. Though I do feel that the peppers are pretty enough with out any use of props I felt that something was not right with the composition. The way the pepper slices are spread out the create a leading line going out the top left corner. I needed a way to show off the natural curves and colors so once again I went back to the drawing board. After messing around with different compositions I choose to stack the pepper slices up. The way the stagger and are different sizes it makes the pepper slices flow in and out like a leaf in the wind. Each slice inviting you to dance around its natural curves and the bright colors that draw you in remind us all about how beautiful food can be if we keep it natural.
